Segafredo
Segafredo is one of the most widely consumed coffee brands in the world and with good reason. "Il Vero Espresso Italiano" is the signature of this quality brand which simply means "Passion for espresso".
The brand was founded by Italian entrepreneur Massimo Zanetti in 1973 in Bologna. Initially, the company only bought coffee beans which were then processed in the coffee roaster. Around 1995 Segafredo started to acquire its own coffee plantations. Segafredo now has 11 coffee plantations in Costa Rica and Brazil, among other places.
Segafredo's Secret
Segafredo has grown into an international company operating in more than 100 countries worldwide. But what is the secret behind this success? Well ...; the 5M's of Segafredo Zanetti.
La Missione (The Mission)
'Let's discover the world, the charm, the culture and the flavour of the authentic Italian Espresso, and spread all over the world our passion for the Espresso.' That is Segafredo's mission with the aim of supplying espresso of the best quality. In addition, the company offers service, expert advice and guidance in the preparation of authentic Italian espresso. "Servizio e qualitá"
La Miscela (The Blend)
Segafredo coffee is made from the best Robusta and Arabica coffee beans which are expertly selected. As the only coffee roaster, Zanetti controls the production process from the coffee plant to the espresso in your cup. Segafredo coffee owes its distinctive and unique taste to an old Venetian recipe in which the coffee beans are roasted deeper and longer. "Tipico e originale"
Il Macinadosatore (The Mill)
The grind of the coffee grinder must be adjusted very precisely to guarantee the original Italian espresso taste. In order to ensure a constant, evenly fine grinding of the espresso beans, the coffee grinder must be checked regularly and readjusted if necessary. The combination of the right grind and the right amount of coffee is important for the well-known crema layer. "Crema famoso"
La Macchina (The Machine)
In order to make a tasteful, authentic cup of Italian espresso, the settings of the espresso machine are very important. For example, the temperature, flow rate and pressure need to be accurately adjusted. It is also important to clean your espresso machine daily and maintain it periodically. This way the machine stays in good condition and you are assured of the delicious aroma and the special character of your Segafredo espresso. "Aroma Speciale"
La Mano (The Hand)
The basis of a perfect Italian espresso is formed by the previously mentioned aspects. Segafredo therefore considers it essential to share this knowledge so that you too can serve a perfect Italian espresso. "Espresso Perfetto"
Segafredo Coffee Beans
Segafredo coffee beans are available in different blends and roasts. Zanetti uses 2 types of beans, Arabica coffee beans and Robusta coffee beans. The Arabica coffee bean gives a light, intense taste and has a deep aroma. Arabica coffee beans contain little caffeine. The Robusta coffee bean is more powerful and gives a strong and full-bodied taste to your coffee. Robusta coffee beans contain more caffeine than the Robusta type. By blending the two types, there is a suitable taste for every coffee lover.
